SAN JOSE, Calif.Dec. 11, 2019 /PRNewswire/ — SiTune Corporation, an innovative provider of CMOS Radio Frequency (RF) transceivers, full band tuners and wireless radios for cable, terrestrial and satellite communications, today announced the release of its cutting-edge ultra-low power mobile TV tuner, STN61M0. This new high-performance tuner targeted for mobile handhelds including smartphones, tablets, and USB dongles enables high quality TV watching by receiving over the air terrestrial digital broadcasting content and by providing a considerably low power RF solution for handheld devices.

Sampling with portable handheld manufacturers, the new STN61M0 is the first tuner that enables handheld devices to support the new ATSC3.0 mobile standard currently adopted in South Korea and in the United States. ATSC 3.0 (aka “Next Gen TV”) is the latest version of the Advanced Television Systems Committee standards that is based on Internet protocol (IP), thus facilitates new ways of hybrid broadcasting by merging broadcast with broadband. The emergence of 5G broadcasting not only for Mobile TV but also for massive IoT makes it more beneficial to offload the appropriate broadband content from unicast network to one-to-many broadcast network of ATSC 3.0 due to its high spectral efficiency and high-quality video/audio delivery. The standard also supports robust mobile reception which is key for 5G broadcast targeting mobile phones, tablets and also in automobile television systems.

STN61M0 is the first single-chip ATSC3.0 mobile tuner to support high quality video and audio reception in a mobile environment, considering fast signal power changes and doppler effects while assuring co-existence with the current LTE reception band of 600MHz-700MHz. The Chip can tune to channels anywhere between 90MHz to 858MHz and consume the smallest power attributed to its high level of integration and design intricacy. STN61M0 can support other terrestrial standards such as DVB-T/T2, ISDB-T and D-TMB.

SITUNE PASSES MILESTONE OF SHIPPING TWO MILLION 8K TV SILICON TUNERS (STN6528)

SAN JOSE, Calif., Sept. 9, 2019 /PRNewswire/ — SiTune Corporation, an innovative pioneer in CMOS Radio Frequency (RF) transceivers, broadband tuners and wireless radios for cable and satellite communications as well as wireless infrastructure today announced that it has shipped more than 2 million of its STN6528 dual concurrent ISDB-S3 Satellite and Terrestrial/Cable tuner used in 8K TVs.

 

As a dual tuner, STN6528 can tune to channel frequencies ranging from 50MHz to 3.25GHz, provide high-quality reception, and support 32APSK and 256QAM modulations for all broadcast and satellite standards including ATSC3, DVBT, DVBT2, DVBC, DVBC2, ISDBT, ISDBS, ISDBS3, DVBS, and DVBS2. The unique features of STN6528 has enabled Tier-1 TV and Set-Top-Box (STB) makers in Japan to use 3 of SiTune’s STN6528 tuners (3T3S) and manufacture high performance miniaturized systems and modules used in the new 8K ISDB-S3 Time Shift TVs and Blue Ray Recorders.

 

This achievement is largely attributed to STN6528 state-of-the-art performance, high level of integration, and its software-controlled radio architecture. This has positioned SiTune as a market leader in the 4K and 8K TV markets in Japan. SiTune Introduces High-Performance DOCSIS 3.1 “Total Spectrum Reception™” (TSR™) Cable RF Front End

This chip is an advanced, high-performance, low power, TSR (Total Spectrum Reception) cable RF Front End optimized to surpass the strictest performance requirements associated with DOCSIS 3.1 digital cable modems and gateways.

 

The new STN93321 cable tuner acquires and digitizes the entire 54MHz to 1218MHz downstream spectrum, making it capable of supporting multi-Gb/s broadband access for cable users. It is also capable of transmitting upstream OFDMA channels up to the frequency of 204MHz per DOCSIS 3.1 requirements. STN93321 can deliver 32 QAM and 2 OFDM (192MHz) downstream channels over multiple high-speed SERDES interface lines to the Intel mPuma Processors. A complete D3.1 Reference design based on STN93321 is available and tested according to CableLabs ATP requirements by leading cable CPE manufacturers.

 

STN93321 is designed based on “Total Spectrum ReceptionTM” (TSRTM) technology which is an innovative low-power, high dynamic range patented architecture enabling total DOCSIS 3.1 frequency band reception. At its core, TSRTMtechnology integrates multi-Gb/s high-speed Data Converters with a highly linear RF front-end, while utilizing both Digital Correction and Advanced DSP algorithms for performance optimization.

 

The STN93321 features a narrowband tuner for power outage support, SPI interface for chip programming, and a highly advanced industry-leading built-in spectrum monitoring tool. This tool performs as a high dynamic range spectrum analyzer for signals in both Downstream and Upstream directions at the same time. This provides critical Proactive Network Maintenance (PNM) information to cable operators, assisting them to fully track, support and maintain modems, gateways and networks. STN93321 is already designed into the new generation of intelligent Remote PHY Nodes for its spectrum monitoring and PNM capabilities by leading network equipment manufacturers.

STN-55T4800 is a highly integrated 50MHz-1GHz dual Tuner with small footprint that delivers best signal reception and adjacent channel rejection performance in different digital cable and Terrestrial standards. STN55T4800 is based on STN55T4400, the low power hybrid tuner that is sampling now with several design-wins among manufacturers of TV and set top box sets.
